Beloved

I sit at your feet quietly

Adoring

Taking in every word you speak

Finally understanding without any hesitancy

Knowing that I can not ever drink enough of You

And I sit here and fill my whole being up

With Your sweet aroma,

Sweet Rose of Sharon

I sit at your feet

Worshiping

My beloved friend and Lord

Without any reserve, my heart fully open

Content to just be in Your presence

Loving and being loved in return

My joy overflowing

At the wonder of my closeness

To Jesus, the beloved Son of God

Martha is in the kitchen, preparing

She’s fussing and banging about

And getting more and more annoyed with me…

I should be there too; it’s expected of me,

But I can’t leave Him right now!

She can no longer contain herself and with a rush of breath implores-

“Lord why is my sister Mary, not helping?!”

I quietly watch as you take Martha by the hand

I cannot speak, I watch holding my breath

“Martha, dear Martha, you are much worried and troubled,

Can you not see what is important?

What she’s found?

This one  thing that is needed, it will never be taken away from her

Ever!

Come and sit down beside Me and learn,

For you too

are beloved

of Me.”
