Proverbs
Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.

Proverbs 3:3-4

The Word
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

  • I have to agree with you John, this video is awesome.

If I am to be very honest, I had never thought a whole about the cup to the depth that this video took me to a few months ago when I first watched it and for which I am so grateful for. A lot of Christians will remember this time as a time when Jesus went to the Cross and all the horror that took place publicly, they may not think much about or remember, the private agony that Jesus went through, on His own, away from His disciples in the cool of the evening after the Passover meal, before His Father in the Garden of Gethsemane.

The brutality of the crucifixion has always horrified me and the Lord taking on my sin has left me weeping many a time, but to be taken back to the time before the crucifixion, when Jesus knew what was ahead of Him on all fronts, left me on my knees with a heart that feels it will break in two. To make it personal for each of us, it was ‘my’; sin brought Him to this place. It was ‘my’ sin, that was the reason Jesus so lovingly came and drank of this cup, but it was out of love and obedience to His Father that He saw it through until it was finished.
    Matthew 26:36-46
    The Prayer in the Garden
36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.
44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”

    The Lord bless you
