If We Really Believed
If we believed in the gospel
That it truly could set men free,
That it could really release the captive
And help blinds eyes to see.
If really believe it was the power
Of God release on the earth,
To break the rule of the devil
And bring to the dead new birth.
If we really believe that Christ has risen
And he has broken the power of sin,
And that He reigns forever in heaven
And that the final victory he is sure to win.
If really believe that the gospel
Was the only true hope for this nation,
The way to lead us out of the darkness
And into the light of salvation.
If really believe that this world is broken
And cannot mend itself,
If we really believed we are hopeless
And there is life in no one else.
If really believed that someday
The King is coming back to reign,
And separate the sheep from the goats
And that life will never be the same.
Wouldn’t we be different in what we do and say?
Wouldn’t we stop playing at church
And start to live for him each day?
Wouldn’t we be willing to give all that we own?
So that others might come and worship around his Throne?
Wouldn’t we get excited about the truth that has set us free?
And try to share this truth with every one we see
Wouldn’t we stop lying and start to honest about who we are?
Wouldn’t stop hiding and start following the star?
Wouldn’t we tell our loved ones about the Lover of our souls?
Wouldn’t change our direction and revolutionize our goals?
Wouldn’t stop being ashamed about what we do on Sundays,
And always be ready to talk about it Mondays?
Wouldn’t we start to weep every time we saw a pal,
If he didn’t know Jesus and was slip sliding to hell?
Wouldn’t fall on our knees every single day,
And call out to God to change the way we pray?
Wouldn’t we start to find ways to reach out to the poor,
To open the windows and smash down all the doors?
Well I will just ask us this question,
And wait to here how we respond.
Do we really believed the Word of God
Is something we can build our lives upon?
Do we really believe it is the truth
That can truly bring liberation,
And change the world we live in,
For the God’s glory and our salvation?
