At Calvary

John and I have been chatting on Friday afternoon about the freedom to be found in the Lord, how when we look after our relationship with Him above all else, everything else, He takes care of. His relationship is to be paramount to us. Great Joy of Joys!

This old hymn, At Calvary, came to mind as we were chatting that is where the freedom in the Lord comes from, where it is all based. Mercy there was great and grace was free. I found 2 renditions. The first one is a wonderful lively rendition that you will find you want to sing along as you listen or at least tap your foot! and the second one is music only played on a lovely traditional church pipe organ   ENjoy both :-)

Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died
At Calvary.

  • Refrain:
    Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
    Pardon there was multiplied to me;
    There my burdened soul found liberty
    At Calvary.

By God’s Word at last my sin I learned;
Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,
Till my guilty soul imploring turned
To Calvary.

Now I’ve giv’n to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing
Of Calvary!

Oh, the love that drew salvation’s plan!
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man!
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span
At Calvary!
