For many years I was a taxi driver operating in Southampton, U.K., and used to often witness to a young prostitute named Carla. Over a period of about 7 years or so, I witnessed this young lady transform from a vibrant and cheeky teenager, to a haggard and beaten woman, addicted to crack cocaine, and way beyond her years in looks and experience.
I wrote this song a couple of days after I met her for the first time in a couple of years, and found out that she had given her life to Christ. The transformation in her life has been phenomenal, and to this day my heart warms when I think of what the Lord has done in her life. Hallelujah Lord!
Do you realise the times
I’ve stood in sin filled rooms?
Just waiting for the word,
When you would just say, “Lord, I need You!”
Can you count the times I’ve stood,
Right there beside your bed?
My fingers gently tracing tears,
Rolling down your face onto your pillow.
Precious child, take My hand.
I’ll lead you to the promised land.
For all those years of tears and sadness,
I’ll give to you the oil of gladness.
And you can know My word is true,
For all the shame I’ve suffered;
I would suffer just for you.
This is a song for you My child,
I’ll sing as we run through valleys wild.
A place where you’ll see them,
The beauty and freedom,
I have for you.
A place where you’ll run and never fall,
From mountain tops you’ll hear Me call;
“Come take your place!
My Mercy and Grace, has purchased for you.”
This is the song to you I’ll sing,
As we fly high on eagles wings.
Where I will declare;
“My Kingdom I’ll share
Forever with you!”
A place where you run and never grow weary,
And when I call you’ll always hear Me.
“Come take your place!
Sit right here beside Me.
Here in My arms,
Forever you’ll find it.
Here is the place,
My Mercy and Grace,
Has purchased for you.”

John, this is truly a lovely song and filled with the Lord’s love.
Thank you too for sharing Carla’s background. God is so good to us!
That’s a great encouragement. It shows that we have to be patient in prayer.
